Why now?

By working with businesses, Nature’s SAFE aims to drive innovative conservation. We are facing the 6th mass extinction – making this work more important now than ever.

Life on Earth has evolved into a rich and biodiverse world that is full of wonder, mystery and beauty. Our natural world is unique and highly interconnected, and we depend upon it for our very survival. However, we are now at risk of losing the animal species that have enriched our lives and helped to keep our planet healthy.

Calculating the number of species that are going extinct each year is not an accurate science, but we do know that we are going through the 6th mass extinction as a result of human activity. Experts estimate the current rate of extinction to be at least 100 times higher than the natural extinction rate.

The restoration of ecosystems can only thrive if we establish genetically diverse networks of fauna to support them. The alarming decline in biodiversity poses a significant threat to the air we breathe, our climate, and ultimately, our own survival. Nature’s SAFE not only aims to halt but also reverse biodiversity loss. We have lost the luxury of time – Nature’s SAFE is working against the clock to save species that will otherwise be lost forever.
